We're excited to offer hatching eggs from our mixed flock of pasture-raised hens. We have a wide variety of breeds on the farm, ranging from hard to find heritage birds to self-bred barnyard mixes. Most, if not all, hens that hatch from these eggs will lay stunning shades of Sky Blue, Olive Green, Sage Green, or Turquoise eggs. Don't be fooled by the brown & white eggs in some of our photos! Our roosters are pure bred Lavender Ameraucanas and Crested Cream Legbars, so their genes mixed with our brown or white egg-layers produce hens that lay varying shades of blue or green, some with spots!
Just to be clear, even though the eggs that you receive from us will look like the eggs in the second photo below (brown, white, blue, green), they will hatch Easter Eggers, Olive Eggers, Sage Eggers, and Turquoise Eggers who lay the egg colors you see in the third and fourth photos!
Hen/Rooster pairing possibilities:
The eggs for sale are laid by our mixed flock of pasture-raised/free-range/overly-loved/spoiled hens (Marans, Australorp, Salmon Faverolle, Crested Cream Legbar, Leghorn, Isbar, Buff Orpington, Olive Egger, Sage Egger, Easter Egger, Turquoise Egger) who were randomly bred by one of our 4 roosters (Lavender Ameraucana & Crested Cream Legbar).
What kind of layers to expect from each egg:
Any hens that hatch from our brown eggs will likely grow up to lay Olive or Sage Eggs.
Any hens that hatch from our blue eggs will likely grow up to lay Blue or Mint Green eggs.
Any hens that hatch from our green eggs will likely grow up to lay Sage, Turquoise, or Blue eggs.
Any hens that hatch from our tan eggs will likely grow up to lay light Olive or Sage Eggs.
Any hens that hatch from our olive eggs will likely grow up to lay Sage, Turquoise, Green, or Olive eggs.
Any hens that hatch from our cream or white eggs will likely grown up to lay Blue or Mint Green eggs.
*Color genetics are not 100% predictable, but the combinations listed above are the most common results we get on our farm.
Due to high demand, we are unable to sell specific color requests, and only sell "assortments" (basically whatever eggs were laid on the day of purchase, or day prior to shipping). Therefore the eggs you purchase will hatch a random assortment of Easter Eggers, Olive Eggers, Sage Eggers, & Turquoise Eggers (mostly F1, some F2).
We collect 1-2 dozen eggs daily (depending on the season), and only sell the freshest & cleanest eggs we have on hand. Most eggs we sell are less than 24hrs old, and we never sell eggs that we wouldn't feel confident putting in our own incubator. Lately orders have really taken off and wait times of up to 2 weeks are not uncommon.
If shipping is required, we ask that you order in multiples of 6 (we can safely fit up to 18 in 1 box). Eggs are packaged the day prior to shipping. They will be shipped inside of proprietary foam shipping blocks, snugly tucked inside of custom-cut egg compartments surrounded by air cushions. We've had very good results with this shipping method, and only had 1 customer report a broken egg in 2020 (out of over 1000 eggs shipped). We average about a 95% hatch rate with these eggs on our farm, but keep in mind that shipping will likely decrease your hatch rate (and possibly drastically if mishandled during shipment). PLEASE BE AWARE OF THE RISK OF ABYSMAL HATCH RATES when incubating shipped eggs. Unfortunately we cannot control how eggs are treated once they enter the postal system, and sometimes are exposed to conditions that lower hatch rates (dropping, vibration, temp/humidity fluctuations, etc).
